Oklahoma's Promise High School Students

You've applied and are enrolled in the Oklahoma's Promise Program. Now what?

There are three important things all enrolled OK Promise students need to do to remain eligible for the scholarship:

  1. Complete the required courses.
  2. Meet the GPA requirements.
  3. Stay out of trouble.

    Complete the Required Courses

    There are two curriculum paths students can choose:

    College Eligible Pathway

    Students on this pathway may use their scholarship at:

    • Any accredited public or private college or university in Oklahoma, or
    • A limited number of approved programs and courses at public technology centers.

    To remain eligible, students must take the required courses to meet OK Promise program and college admissions requirements. This curriculum may differ from your high school’s graduation requirements, so work closely with your high school counselor to ensure all program requirements are met.

    CareerTech Only Pathway (Oklahoma Core Diploma)

    Students on this pathway may use their scholarship only at:

    • Approved programs and courses at public career technology centers. This scholarship cannot be used at a college or university and cannot be transferred later to a college pathway.

    To remain eligible, students must graduate with the Oklahoma Core Diploma.

    Don't forget that there are two GPA requirements you must meet:

    • a 2.50 for all courses you take AND
    • a 2.50 in the specific college prep courses required to receive the OK Promise scholarship

    Stay out of trouble

    • Do your homework
    • Don’t skip school
    • Don’t abuse drugs or alcohol
    • Don’t commit criminal or delinquent acts

Special Information for High School Students

Are you a junior or senior in high school? Remember, there will be a check of the $100,000 second income limit each year you are enrolled in college or at a technology center.

Second income check at college entry

Students who qualify for the teacher eligibility track may not exceed 700% of the FPL at the time the student begins college and prior to receiving the scholarship.
