Program Updates Starting in 2024-25

Curriculum

  • New 15-unit curriculum (same as college admission)
  • Removes “required” subject areas of foreign language/ computer technology and fine arts
  • Adds two (2) additional units (formerly one [1] additional unit)

Modification for Enrollment Guidelines for Students in DHS Custody

  • Students in DHS custody can apply with documentation from DHS in the eighth, ninth, 10th or 11th grade (this is the same as it has been in the past).
  • NEW: Students who are placed in DHS custody during the eighth, ninth, 10th or 11th grade can apply for Oklahoma's Promise during the 12th grade prior to high school graduation if they were not previously enrolled.

Career Tech Option

There are now two tracks for a student choosing to attend an Oklahoma public career technology center:

  • For students completing the OKPromise/college admission 15-unit curriculum, the scholarship will cover at least a portion of tuition for certain programs that meet the requirements to be eligible for federal financial aid offered at an Oklahoma public technology center. The scholarship will transfer to a college or university if the student chooses to pursue that track for their education.
  • NEW: For students completing the CORE high school graduation requirements, the scholarship will cover at least a portion of tuition for certain programs that meet the requirements to be eligible for federal financial aid offered at an Oklahoma public technology center. The scholarship is only available to be used at career technology centers and is not transferable to a college or university.
